about

soleilu .

Soleilu is an extension of myself. I started making jewelry at 18, exploring other crafts along the way, and I fell in love with it. I loved the feeling of learning something new and discovering it while also discovering myself. Those were years of deep introspection and learning.
My name is Lucía, and I love to mentally transform everything I see into a piece of jewelry. What would an asparagus necklace look like? In my mind, it's already done. For now, I work with 925 sterling silver in a city in Valencia.
Each piece of jewelry is handmade by me, working the material with love and respect.
I connect deeply with each piece of jewelry I make; for me, it's a sacred moment that honors my inner world and keeps me present in every moment of creation. I wish I could better describe what happens in those moments.
It's clear how attached I am to each piece I finish. Every time I deliver a jewel, I go through a process of letting go, trusting, and thinking that whoever wears it will be accompanied by something very special.

Besides making jewelry, I have another great passion: agriculture. My dream is to have an organic garden where I can grow the vegetables we love and, above all, share the harvest with my loved ones. For now, I have a small but vibrant balcony: lettuce, arugula, piparras peppers, radishes, leeks, Padrón peppers, beets, pak choi, Mediterranean herbs... I practice there so that one day I can have a proper garden. I'm also crazy about fermentation. I make milk kefir, water kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, garlic in honey... I love combining vegetables and fermenting them in their own juices. I make butter with cream fermented with kefir. It's amazing. I'm fascinated and moved to look at my jars and know that there's a universe inside them, a universe that changes every second, millions of tiny lives within a small jar. Fermentation is one of those things that reminds you to be patient in this life. Everything takes time. Another thing I do is make my own cosmetics and cleaning products. I make them for myself, my family, and friends. I make my own creams and shampoos because I don't like the ones on the market! And I really enjoy the process and the chemistry involved.
(In case you haven't noticed, I have ADHD and thanks to it I am able to do and enjoy all of this)
Soleilu is all of this, even though it only showcases jewelry. I couldn't create my jewelry if I didn't have these stimuli constantly providing inspiration. Soleilu refers to the sun because it's what connects all my passions. The sun is the link between them. The sun is present in every creative process , and the sun nourishes my plants, making them grow until they become my food, sometimes first undergoing a long fermentation process. This fermentation cultivates a new ecosystem of microscopic creatures that transform the food, changing its composition and making it extremely beneficial to the consumer. This immense population then continues its course within us, providing a diversity of microorganisms that will accompany us for a long time in our vital gut flora.

For me, this is poetry, and it makes me smile and feel grateful for this wonderful life. In my workshop, in my kitchen, and on my balcony, marvelous things happen that mean so much to me, and I accumulate so much love, and it fills me with life.
Clearly, after reading all this, you'll think we're a very environmentally conscious brand. And that's exactly right. In fact, we don't separate ourselves from the environment; we are part of it. We like to take care of ourselves and stay healthy, so we do everything we can to protect the environment and do what's within our power to benefit the ecosystem we live in. That's why we always choose local suppliers, local businesses, and clean processes.

And after all this rambling, I'll say goodbye with a big hug, and I'm incredibly grateful for your support.

All the best,
Lucía Vilar
